MEET RACHEL

When you are looking for help, it is so important that you find someone with experience, right? I am an advocate for strong couples and happy, healthy families. If something is broken, fix it. Break the cycle of complaint, distance, contempt, and disconnection. It can get better. As a mom myself, I know the challenges that having children can cause in your relationship. I understand what it takes to be on the same page with your partner, the work it takes to nurture marriage, and the effort needed on a daily basis. I also understand what it’s like to go from being independent and doing what I want when I want, to now having to negotiate and pre-plan schedules to make sure our children’s needs are met. All of which is to say, I know the struggles of balancing being a mother, partner, friend, daughter, and business owner/employee. I can help you find ways to to be less exhausted, I can help you find tools to improve your communication with your partner, and I can help you enjoy this time as a family.

WHY WORK WITH ME?

I have been in the healthcare field for nearly 20 years and have 2 children- with a 16 year age gap! I have experience with being a single parent, a blended family, and also have dealt with the struggles of merging parenting styles with my husband. While it is challenging, with the right skill set it can go from feeling like a never-ending and hopeless battle to a true partnership. I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St Mary’s University of Minnesota. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services with an emphasis in child development and work closely with several Early Childhood Family Education programs in the Western suburbs. I love helping parents with transition to and through parenthood because so many new parents are struggling to manage their relationships now that baby (or second, third, fourth baby) is here. Moms are often struggling with anxiety and depression and feel it is taboo to talk about. I give them the tools and resources they need to help them feel better as their family change.

I WANT TO HELP NEW PARENTS FIGURE OUT HOW TO BALANCE THEIR LIVES.

Together we explore how they can get along better and not argue. I support them on continuing an intimate relationship despite the decrease in their time alone, while I also encourage them to find time for themselves. It is a struggle when we can’t continue to do the things that make us happy like go to movies, read, play tennis, or have dinner with friends. The clients I have worked with currently and in the past have faced many issues including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, bereavement, self-injurious behavior, bipolar disorder, trauma, abuse, addiction, anger, self-esteem, parenting issues, and relationship struggles.

If you feel I may be able to help you, please call me at 612-759-5533 for a free 30-minute phone consultation to see if I may be a good fit for you.

SESSION INFORMATION

I do not currently accept insurance; however, you can submit a request to your provider for out-of-network reimbursement for services. Often, you can simplify this by submitting request for several sessions at once or send your request after each session. There are advantages to choosing to private pay for counseling and I would love to discuss these with you. You can read the Common Therapy Questions for a brief overview. I offer a sliding scale for clients for each 50-minute session. I ask you to review the pricing scale and pay what is appropriate for you. All payments are due at the beginning of your session. I review my pricing twice a year and will promptly let you know if I change my fee structure.

WE ARE READY FOR A FREE MEETING
